Introduction

I am an experienced, talented researcher well equipped to provide high-end, user-focused, anticipatory information services to a broad range of targeted users:

  • Demanding decision-makers at large, publicly-traded media conglomerates;
  • Deadline-focused editors and publishers at private, alternative publications;
  • U.S. military personnel;
  • Faculty preparing to collect data in complex contexts such as transition economies;
  • Special populations such as children living with a mentally ill family member.

And to achieve design excellence in user-targeted information products.

I have worked as an information professional in a busy newsroom of a large, metropolitan daily and am active both in the News Division of the Special Libraries Association and the Rocky Mountain chapter of SLA. I am an experienced writer and editor.

I am involved in an ongoing academic research project that received grant funding to gather data on information users in rural Romania for an assessment of community needs. The research group expects to publish its draft community analysis in library-focused publications as well as peer-reviewed journals; I will submit a paper for the 2005 International Federation of Library Associations conference.

My long-range goal is to enter a doctoral program in library and information science or a related discipline. I am specifically interested in contributing to the understanding of poverty, especially in the global community.

I expect to continue to grow as a professional:

  • Providing notable anticipatory information services to targeted users;
  • Seeking additional experience training high-end information searchers
  • Networking to create new business opportunities for myself and my clients;
  • Staying ahead of new technologies;
  • Continuing my education in perpetuity;
  • Continuing to hone my skill as an academic researcher;
  • Presenting at a national or international conference;
  • Perfecting a second language through immersion;
  • Studying graphic design excellence and applying design theory to information projects.
  • Gaining relevant experience in grant writing.
